Instagram has more than 1 billion active users, which makes it the third most popular social media network in the world.
And the users are not broke college kids but are 70% of people who earn more than 100k using Instagram.
With 1 billion active users, smart algorithms and tons of creative brands on Instagram, it seems to be the most competitive place where it’s almost impossible to reach the audience unless you are not applying some effective strategies.
According to the survey, 75% of businesses market on Instagram in the US only, which includes 90% of the world’s top brands.
So, the real question is, if 80% of people follow popular brands on Instagram, then how could you increase your following as a small business or if you want to grow yourself as a brand?
Create a hashtag strategy:
Hashtags are one of the major parts of Instagram and help you boost your following quickly. However, using ineffective hashtag strategies can bring down your profile and you may experience a great failure.
Hashtags are one of the simplest ways to reach new followers. You can possibly include more than 30 hashtags in your post, but the quantity is not much important than the quality of hashtags.
Your Instagram search function is one of the easiest ways that help you find the right hashtags for your post. Type a relevant hashtag that meets the niche and your post.
For example, if you are a great foodie or lifestyle blogger, love eating out and try new foods occasionally, then using similar hashtags can help you get more likes, followers, and insights for your post.
After searching the relevant hashtag, Instagram would also give you some related options so the user can scroll through them and find hashtags that could fit their needs. You can use those examples to build hashtags in your own posts so that more accounts can find you.
Curate a beautiful gallery:
Do you know what IGers want to see on your profile? What would attract them the most and they start following you for future posts?
Your last few posts, and attractive photo gallery!
Instagram has now become a highly visual platform, and users prefer following those accounts who have showcased a wonderful photo gallery. You can’t just anything boring, old or less attractive that might shift their attention to another platform or user.
You can also follow a grid gallery layout or attractive theme for your profile page, especially if you are a business, as it is important to develop and follow some attractive theme or style. It helps businesses to engage their followers. The grid gallery or theme style instantly communicate what your profile is all about – or just look like a mishmash of swiped content and reposts.
It’s best to create your own branded content. Use attractive fonts, colors, images, and photo editing style.

Use Instagram stories:
Instagram stories look like the newest trend, and I don’t think it’s going to slow down anytime soon. But do you actually see some new followers from your stories? Absolutely! Since Instagram stories are never subjected to the feed algorithm and are instead time-based, so it’s probably a low risk of not being seen by the target audience in your stories.
The best to attract new followers through stories is to use hashtags or location stickers. By doing this, your story will show up in the story for that specific hashtag or location. You can check out a few stories of your favorite hashtags that help you determine which ones are the popular that you can use in your stories.
Do not forget to Geotag:
Geotagging is simply another way for your stories and posts to be found. If you’re at some popular location, do not forget to tag the location. IGers perusing that geotags will find your post there as well.
Posts with a tagged location eventually result in an 80% higher engagement than posts without a tagged location.
That’s the easiest engagement you’ll ever get!
Create an engaging caption:
Now that you’ve got an engaging and awesome post, be sure to get high engagement on it, or it may just fizzle away.
Tell your followers about your experience on a topic, and engage them through catchy words.
You can also post some inspirational quotes and ask if they agree with it.
And don’t forget to respond to their comments! If you don’t want to engage on social media, you’re in the wrong place.
Here is an example of an engaging caption.
Post consistently to grow your Instagram:
I know this can be tough. You’ve got a lot on your plate.
But it’s really important to post daily or your engagement will suffer.
Poor engagement means IG will show your posts less often.
Less new people will discover your posts, and it’s all downhill from there.
